In the tug-of-war between censorship and language, within cryptic dialects of this circle and that circle, words continue to evolve as they are encrypted and decrypted, with more unrelated terms invaded by new meanings. At some point, under some particular circumstance, a word will_ _be invaded, replicated, spread, and then—reveal its aggressive nature. Take the innocent Shaw Brothers as an example: completely unaware, they decided to incorporate the initials “SB” into their brand logo, which always makes me cringe during their films’ opening sequences. Anyways, what I really want to say is: from “asshole” to “1080P,” I’ve discovered a new way to curse. If no word can escape the destiny of being corrupted, then any word, at some stage in the infinite future, will become a perfect swear word. I can make use of this fate in advance and hurl insults with any word: “You are such a(n) [railing/mango/mouse/iPhone/wrench/asdfghjkl/…]!” Like snatching a blade made from air, before my opponent even becomes aware, I have already won.
