To some extent, the movement of translation can be stationary, where time becomes an active implosion point, constantly accumulating change from inside and out. Translation is simultaneously a process of violence—the dilemma of modernity and the diasporic present can both be seen as the inevitable results of its operation. The body that gets translated cannot be the master of its own destiny. Preserving one’s own shape is one of the few options and means of resistance for entities that get blasted and sprayed in the high-speed flow of space-time. This maintenance allows one to find vaguely familiar anchor points to reconstruct the entire system. Perhaps it is an unavoidable process in the accelerated chaotic motion of this star’s dim dust.
